Kurshinweise:
This semester, we are continuing the online event series The Middle-East War and Antisemitism. Facts & Discussion and will start tonight, Tuesday, November 26, at 6:45 PM with a lecture by Daphna Hacker and Ronit Lewine Schnur (Tel Aviv University).
More than a year after October 7, the war between Hamas and Israel has escalated into a conflict involving more actors and causing further suffering. Simultaneously, antisemitic violence and hatred have risen considerably also in Germany. With our online series we aim to provide deeper insights into the conflict, potential solutions, Israeli society, protests against the war in Israel and other countries, and Antisemitism in Germany. We invite you to join our series and continue the dialogue.
The series builds on the long-standing partnership between Tel Aviv University (TAU) and the University of Konstanz. The organizers, Thomas Hinz and Petra Quintini (Sociology, University of Konstanz), collaborate with the Association for Cooperation between the Universities of Konstanz and Tel Aviv e.V., the Excellence Cluster The Politics of Inequality, the Volkshochschule Konstanz, and the City of Konstanz. The lecture series is open to the public, but online participation requires registration via the website.
The opening event takes place on November 26 from 6:45 PM to 8:15 PM and includes two distinct short lectures. Daphna Hacker, from Tel Aviv University (War in Gendered Israel), will examine the Hamas massacre in Israel and the subsequent war from a gendered perspective. She will address topics such as gender-based violence, female hostages, men and women on the front lines, the absence of women in decision-making processes, and the leadership role of women in civil society in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Following this, Ronit Levine Schnur, a member of the The Day After the War forum and Tel Aviv University, will outline possibilities for building regional alliances and ending the current war (Is the Middle East Ready for a Regional Alliance?).
Details about the series can be found at www.unikn-tau.net. An overview is also available on the attached poster. Registration can also be completed directly on this page at short notice: https://www.unikn-tau.net/registration-for-seminars/.
